Re: 273 CDP Block Question

Thanks, Phill... I am familiar with the R block and are you telling me it has the passage front to rear like on the opposite side that feeds the mains? and the lifter bores could be drilled to the passages to feed the lifters?

I really would have to see the block in question since I have never tore a 273 all the way down. My R block does not oil the lifters but I have seen that Mopar sells a jig to drill into the oil galleys to allow them to. The driver side galley is fed oil from the front main via the passenger side galley. Paul Wong or Ron Ortiz probably have much more experience with a 273 block.
Are you wanting to use a hydraulic cam? Is this for a stocker build or something else?

Re: 273 CDP Block Question

As close as I can get is I did a 65 273 had same oil galley as any other small block mopar
It would have to have a completely different oil system to not oil lifters common sbm has galley on right side that cuts into lifter bores and has holes on bottom of galley that goes to each main.
I think the easiest and most accurate way to answer this question is to have comp tell customer if engine is assm. to put primer on it and see if oil comes into lifter bore @ rear then be sure each lifter bore has oil passage.
If engine is apart track oil galleys and see if oil has passage to get there.
