Re: More crap
Two seperate incidents at the Bracket Finals at Maple Grove a few years ago involving golf cart crashes are probably to blame , since there were serious injuries that required Medivac response.
I'm tired of paying thru the butt for everything as much as the next guy, but I agree with the insurance requirement cause in years past ,accidents involving pit vehicles and race cars or other property usually ended up with the party not at fault getting screwed! |
Re: More crap
Tom, I'm just guessing, but I'd say the accidents your talking about were in some way alcohol related..
What I don't understand is the $300,000. that's a lot of insurance for a golf cart. But this doesn't apply to div 3 yet, so my opinion is worthless.. |

Chris, tell us how you really feel...lol I'm with you though...when is too much too much...but as much as I hate to say it, if some kid whacks me/my car/my stuff with Daddy's golf cart, after the beat down, there better be a way to pay me back and insurance might be the only way to get paid...after being the victim of an on track crash and knowing the financial impacts it can have, I dunno what the alternative is...cause the track operators wont enforce their own rules... |
Re: More crap
Dave,
That 300K policy is for Liability only. Does not cover property damage from what I understand. So if someone wacks your sh_t then you are still stuck with the tab unless you take matters in your own hands which you know me that is what I would do. I have not seen this policy required at other tracks other than just paying a one time fee to register the vehicle. I have a few sources looking into this. |

This was up on the D-1 site for the pit stickers and does mention something about insurance. |
Re: More crap
Is liability insurance really necessary for a pit vehicle? Yes sometimes things do happen but how often? Is this really an issue? What do our entry fees cover as Chris brought out? I'm sure every track has some type of rider to cover a pit vehicle accident. And even though it's only 10.00 to register a pit vehicle, what is that money used for?. Maybe they should use that money for insurance. If they applied the 10.00 we paid in D1 for the registration I'm sure that would pay for a policy that would cover all of us.
NHRA just keep beating us up....check your car counts! Pat I. |
Re: More crap
I'm throwing my .02 in here as a racer and a Insurance agent. The liability is actually what you need, and want someone else to have if they hit your stuff...it doesn't cover the golf cart but what the golf cart messes up.
Like if I hit Bucky Hess's awesome cuda and I certainly hope I never do! After he get's done kicking my butt, I don't have to pony up 20K for the paint job the liability would kick in to cover fixing Bucky's cool car. Without lia insurance then he would prolly not get anything usless he sued...and won, if I refused to pay. I know another butt kicking but my butts not worth 20K so he'd be screwed. NHRA actually requires it at National Events just don't enforce it too much. I have a progressive policy that was like $80 and even covers the golf cart with the $300K lia so I'm good. And if the kids are on it in the neighborhood they are listed on the policy so when it goes in the lake I can get a new one, lol. It still bites how much they make us spend but its kinda like saftey equipment it blows til you need it. |
