Re: 2 Step Question?
I have a break pressure gauge and usually bump the car in with about 150# of line pressure once I'm pre-staged. The only time I've ever had a problem is when the two step failed and it went up against the high side at 7400. At that point the counterweights were coming in and therefor I didn't have enough air gap so it started to pull the car through the lights.:D Sorry I couldn't resist. All this automatic stuff just confuses me.:)

Re: 2 Step Question?
if it wont hold at the starting line ,change out the metalic pads for non metalic ,,should give you better holding at the line ,,if your not running high mph and not hard on stopping it should be good gmonde

Re: 2 Step Question?
With my converter change I lowered my launch rpm from 3400 to 2700 and dropped front tire pressure 10 lbs. to cut a light.
Man you must have been going RED big time, to make those changes. My car is very sensative to RT vs. launch RPM. |

Re: 2 Step Question?
Art, you say you are using factory brakes. including pads? different aftermarket companies will use the same brake pad backing but different pads mounted to them including pad size. You may want to match up your pads with one that has the most surface to hold against the rotor. The other day at my dealership I removed factory pads of a Chevy HHR, and the aftermarket pad was much larger then the factory piece but same backing to fit correctly in caliper bracket. Many aftermarket pads out there will probably produce different pads w same backing. what model is your race car. I will see if chrysler offers different pads for your application. Chris.

Does changing the pad size with pressure and pistons remaining the same raise or lower the clamping force? As for factory pads, we had a GM pad just fall off the front set (not wear down, the pad just came loose and fell off the backing in the garage. Don't know how far/long it was loose.) and replaced both fronts with Auto Zone pads. They created so much brake dust that in a day the wheels showed it. Replaced them with normal NAPA ones and the dust is gone. Stopping about the same as the GM ones with all the pads in place. |
