Buy Phil's Slant Six and run it as an SS/GT car...maybe get a fancy intake manifold somewhere. You could probably still run the original 7 1/4" rear end!

Or if he just wanted to burn through wheelbarrows full of money he could build a SS/GT car with a Hyper-Pack in it.

I think you have to run an 8 cylinder in the GT classes. If not you could fly with an SRT4 motor turned sideways (normal to you, sideways to me)

I like your idea Art,
What if I left it sideways (normal to you)?

Which brings up an interesting issue. Will we see more class availability to race 6 and 4 cylinder engines in the near future, since that is the majority of the engines being produced. Imagine a Ford Ecoboost 6-cylinder for IHRA CM.

Back in the late 60's and early 70's I remember a Carter 2bbl being a fairly common factory built 225 6 cyl combo used in New York City taxicabs.

Why would you lock yourself in to absolutly no traction helpers (other than weight) A final (rear end) drive ratio under 4,0. And the biggest slick you could put on the cars would be 9 x 26.
There is a lot of negatives to a FWD car.

Just to be different Art, LOL. People think my old wagon sounds funny now, They wouldn't know what to think if it had a 4 cyl turbo screamin in the water box with smoke pouring off the front tires.

I believe the 2V was '77 to last year of slant production - '87.
