I found the 2" X 96" " Twist-hook" Tie-downs (Pt# ALL10188) to be the best all around straps!

The twisted hook feature makes ratcheting down, safer than the sideways hook, your not twisting the tie-down especially when using an "D"-ring axle strap.

The contact point is straight and perpendicular to the pressure point of where your pulling from.

The other benifit is that the twisted hook is bolted directly to the ratchet itself!
With this type of tie-down there's not a 6" or 8" lead of strap material extending the hook away from the ratchet.
This allows for more leverage when ratcheting and securing a vehicle, and NOT having to crawl under the vehicle to secure it down at all.

Greg, you still have to crawl under the back of the car to secure the hook. The setup mentioned are steel straps with open end hooks attached.I don't like the open end feature. If the car moves in the trailer they can disengage. And you won't know The trailer seems to be more stable towing since I started doing that.

Re: Tie Downs

I received my Mac's tie downs from Summit and the quality is outstanding. Both the fabric and the mechanism are much better than what we had. These are first class tie downs.
