That's how we do it when cutting / welding on natural gas lines that still have some gas in 'em. My Dad always said, "The only time you need to be scared is if the fire goes OUT!" ;)

Fill at least one up with stabilized pump gas for when the power goes out and the gas stations don't work.

I never used any of those fancy tools, lol. I just use a chisel and hammer to get the lid off. p.s. It's good to use gloves when you do it this way..
