Thanks for the link Dean. I'd like to see someone do this comparo again with current build filters. Any way you cut it, I'm always and always have been scared of Fram.

The PF35L is often found with a perforated steel core. However, the media is too fine for a high flow application.

The oil filter for a Duramax seems to always have a perforated steel core, I have yet to find one without it. I think the number is PF2232. It fits small and big block Chevy engines. Never had a problem with one, either.

The K&N filters are good, never had a problem with one, and they can often be found at the chain stores if you need a filter and the NAPA or CarQuest is either closed or too far away.

Yup, I had a Fram come apart years ago and that was the end of that.

Baldwin B253 is a racing filter that was made for Ferrari racing. This is the Mopar Ford filter I don't recall the chevy filter number but can get it and post it later.

WIX 51069R is the way to go.

Thank you guys so it seems that a majority is

1) Wix Racing
2) K&N
3) System 1 etc

Stay away from
1) Fram Racing (I agree!!)
2) AC Delco

wix 51069r is the way to fly, napa1069 only if wix isnt available it doesnt have the hi flow
media of the 51069r it is just a passenger filter.

the AC PF-35L is still available at any GM. dealer parts dept... never any problems with it, they come 12 filters to a case only...I have 3 cases at home. I use AC- oil filter on all my cars. BTW AC oil filter is made by Delphi in mexico buy automated machines.. Luke SS311
