Re: Working on the Mustang
Updating this thread. The car is pretty much finished except for getting the engine together and throwing it in the car. Don't know when we'll get to is since we're busy starting to get ready to move out of CA.
Redoing this thread from the start since I redid my photobucket photos and the old ones are gone. This is how the car used to look with Alex D. behind the wheel. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps2d47da6f.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps590a5e78.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps629a2254.jpg Started taking the car apart: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...pse6bce7d4.jpg Fenders and hood hanging on the wall. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps064cb103.jpg Engine out. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...s6af8bd91.jpeg Took the interior apart and added a halo to the roll bar: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps8a7e6f1e.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps1421c0ac.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps92802415.jpg |
Re: Working on the Mustang
Cut out the rear tail light panel and trial fit the new panel, decklid, and end caps which needed a lot of work:

Re: Working on the Mustang
Got the new parts fitted pretty well and went on to spraying on primer:

I think it was over 100* at this time. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps0987cb87.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psc00b7b03.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psf7285144.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psd5a1a589.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psc34b3f16.jpg |
Re: Working on the Mustang
Started getting the car back together:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psa9d730e3.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps38409ce5.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psce25663f.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps65f3a8fb.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psd1597cff.jpg It was kind of a pain figuring out how the headlight buckets and stuff went together. The things should come with some instructions and at least have some holes predrilled in the buckets. LOL http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psfe9d4bba.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps70d9f853.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps187bb978.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps5a0ef48f.jpg |
Re: Working on the Mustang
The hood pin brackets were a pain too. Got the hood opening mesh on.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...pscc41d723.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps042f8fb1.jpg Stuck the lace with lettering on. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps8492275b.jpg Got the interior back together and installed the window net. Tracked a lot of dust into the car. LOL http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps2ab7ffc3.jpg Got the stripe on. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps786e4d3f.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps1e84e0a0.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...psc61fb6a3.jpg |
Re: Working on the Mustang
Added some lettering. Needs the engine in there to get the front end down.

We're definitely not up to a Rusty Gillis skill level though. One of these days we'll get the engine back together and into the car. Don't want to do something like this again, at least for a long time. LOL |
Re: Working on the Mustang
Car looks great!!! My uncle turned his 68 mustang into 68 Shelby, then to a 67 Shelby. So I know how much work it is. We had a 70 GT500 showcar back in the 80's, Love the 69 and 70 Shelby's!! Good luck when you get it back out there!

Yup, I have the car now.... Jeff bought the car from me in 2000 and sold it back to me in 2006. I owned the car since 1987 and turned it into a 68 Shelby in 1998. Jeff then turned it into a 67 Shelby because of the better engine combo for the 67. Jeff put lots of work into the car before a bought it back.
First photo is Jeff driving when it was a 68, next photo is me at a division race a few years back. The 69 Shelby looks very cool. |
