That was the idea of this thread…to present rare cars that were raced when new that are still doing battle. I’ve owned, as I’m sure a lot of people here have, cars that WERE race cars, but have since been restored and therefore the racing heritage has either been hidden or lost completely.

This is what the dart looked like back when it was new. It was a factory 1 of 6 440 dart built for SS/EA. Super stock only combo like the hemi darts since there were only 6 of these. I run it with a 383 in it right now

Always learning new stuff today - I had no idea that there was a small run of these cars. What was different from the M code cars that anybody could buy?

I got this 428CJ Q code body from Hubert Platt sometime in 1970 and built it to race in SS/GA June 1971 until the end of the 1974 season. I parked it for about 20 years and started racing it as a C/SA for a few years and parked it again. I painted it close to the way it was raced in 2005. I'm still racing the same Mustang.
