What I think is the biggest help in keeping the big end round is the clean neutral at the end of the run and engine shut off. It helps eliminates compression breaking of the engine.

I will install an Accusump on this years dyno session and install in the car to help on engine starts. I might want to install a sight glass on the pan to see where the oil level goes on a pull.

I'm assuming the volume of oil in the accumulator and its pressure follows the engine pressure. We charge the bladder to 20psi.

The only draw back I can think of is: three more places for a potential leak.

If you charge the bladder at 20 psi the accumulator will not start filling till it overcomes the set pressure of 20 psi. I set it up by opening the valve and putting in about 60 psi to insure the piston is at the bottom then drop the pressure back down to 5-7 psi. The accumulator will continue to push oil back into the engine until it reaches the set pressure then it will be empty. I do have a sight tube on the pan and by starting the engine with the accumulator valve closed then starting it with it open I can understand how much oil is actually in the accumulator.

Suggest trying different charge pressures. It will make a noticeable impact on the volume of oil in the accumulator. You will be able to see a difference varying charge pressure as little as 1 psi. Remember charge pressure is residual at full discharge. I think the Moroso has a 4" piston, so at 6 psi there is just over 75 lbs of force behind the piston after its bottomed out

With the accumulator at 20 psi the engine oil pressure should not get much below 20 psi before oil under pressure is transferred saving the engine, I hope.

As the oil fills the accumulator the pressure in the bladder increases allowing transfer of oil to engine above the 20 psi mark.

Moroso has a good video on their YouTube channel. That goes into how different air pressures in the accumulator affect how it works. They have a “test stand and show it in real time what’s what. I’d post a link but don’t know how to do that.

One thing nobody has mentioned here (or I missed it). Is in a stocker the way we are limited on oil pan selection (no huge deep pans) and limited on what we are allowed to do to them. And inside them. Getting 1-2 quarts out of the pan and into the accumulator. Keeps the oil lower in the sump. Which could help with windage. But at the same time that oil is still available and ready to go if needed. Verses just running a quart or two low and risking an engine failure.

My thinking have a 3 quart tank, overfill pan 2 quarts, that would leave 1 quart low for the run. Now you have a 7 quart pan when and if needed. On a Hemi this would be nice

World champ and guess what? Yep no accusump, how does Tilburg do it?:D and the emmons boys are known for wheelies and hard braking.;)

Nice job guys!

Great video. I wonder if any body has a package deal that includes the accumulator and a pair of Santhuff front shocks.
