Salinas, Not as famous as most but some actor killed himself trying to get there. My first ride in a race car, my uncles Black 63 Max Wedge Savoy was there. That was all it took the hook was set, I was 6 or 7 years old. It's only 15 minutes away from my house . I can't imagine what it would be like to test without traveling 3 + hours one way.. Fremont and Half Moon Bay would also be on the list.

If you were looking to fly then Fremont was the place. Look at the old record books and see. Then there is Sacramento, ton of records too. Very fast early to mid season still and great in the evening (needs to have a div). Sears Point is very fast too. Last week was 700 below and 400 later in the day consistant with a great track too.

Now that I live out in the southwest, I'd have loved the chance to race at Orange County Raceway, but that track went away about the same time C.D.R. did, and for the same reason...flipping developers!!!

First would be, York US-30, Almost made it there a couple times in the late 70s.
Would have loved to have made it to the Super Stock National.

Second would be, Aquasco speedway 20 minutes from my house, worked there in the snack bar when I was like 13 to 16 then it closed up. BAD "Todd Mack" LOL

Third would be, Suffolk in VA, would have loved to have made it to the Little Guy Nationals just once.

O well had to settle for racing at the not so Famous Budds Creeks,
Maryland International Raceway, GREAT Local track :)

Cal,

I'm with you,
York US 30 Dragway (Pennsylvania)

Super Stock Magazine Nationals (1969/1970/1971) were the best.

New York National Speedway, 1966 &1968 Super Stock Magazine Nationals.

1968 was the best, as approximately 25 of the original 68' Hemi
SS/B & SS/BA cars were there.
No clones or restoration cars, and/or switching VIN tags.....;)

I would have loved to raced a '40 Willy's gasser at the famous Bakersfield Gasser meets back in the day.

I cut my teeth at Atco and loved the track, maybe someday I'll go back for one last pass.

Don't know what you got till it's gone!

And with fuel and tolls being what they are to travel to NJ I might have some $$$ left for my retirement fund...
