1969 AHRA Winternationals
Beeline Dragway,,,,,,,,,Arizona
Cars classed in SS/E
Super Stock/Experimental

Can anybody identify the '4' Hemi Darts,,
the 'two' behind the Camaro's,
the one behind the left Dart,,
and the one at the back right...???

Paul,,doesn't look like anyone wants to take a stab at this one,,including myself. Once again though, a great photo from a bygone era. However, I'm thinking that the car on the right, up front, could be a Charlie Allen car and the Dart in back, also on the right, looks to be a Landy car, with the Charger 2 cars in front of it. Thanks for posting these.

If you look on the other side of the fence, directly above the near Dart on the right, you can see the Sox & Martin rig with what looks to be the rear end of a "B" body facing away from the fence. Can't tell if its the Road Runner or their GTX.

Don Grotheer,,,SS/B
(photo from 1968 NHRA World Finals, October 20, 1968)
Tulsa International Raceway,,,,, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Clearly one of the best looking BO29 Hemi Barracuda's

1968 NHRA Super Stock Eliminator Runner-Up @ Springnationals
June 1968, SS/B National Record Holder @ 10.91

After the 1968 racing season, Don Grotheer purchased the Barracuda from
Cable Chrylser-Plymouth (who owned the car).
It was re-painted with the blue and orange stripe, and Don campaigned it in
SS/BA. He won the 1969 NHRA Winternationals Super Stock Eliminator, and re-set the
SS/BA National Record to 10.72 (from 10.83).

HM,

The last race for Shirley 'Drag-On-Lady' Shahan in her SS/BA Dart,
was at the 1969 NHRA Winternationals.

She was beaten in the Super Stock Eliminations by
Arlen Vanke in his SS/B Barracuda.

There is a photo of both the Dart and Arlen Vanke at
the line in Pomona,,,,,,see the photo on the Arlen Vanke site.

Re: Original hemi dart information

Well, well...so it seems that line up of Hemi Dart's photo has stirred up some interest on here...as I said a few weeks ago before all my posts on here were deleted, my guesses were.

- Gene Snow's Hemi Dart (first one on the left)
- Bill Bagshaw's Red Light Bandit, (first one on the right)
- T-H-T Racing, (second one on the left) or maybe someone else's.
- Dick Landy's Hemi Dart, (far right near the back) behind his Charger.
- Shirley Shahan Drag-On-Lady, (far left near back), see the silver roof stripe.

Geerhead, good eyes on spotting the Sox & Martin hauler and their car in the background as well.

Also pthomasely, do you care to fill us in on who's 68 Hemi Dart you're talking about then, so who's was it?
