Re: Unmitigated Greed
My membership expires 5-22-09 & my number/drivers license expires 5-31-09.
This latest round of enhancements by NHRA is just going to make it easier to drop out & spend more time with IHRA & my house boat. (which I haven't spent the night on in 3 years) It also makes it easier to justify selling all this race equipment & build that 4 place home built airplane I've dreamed about for years. I've been a victum of NHRA's continued sportsman enhancement since way back when they did away with Modified. Then they got to me for about $50,000 when they changed the weight brake of A/SR from 5.5 lbs to 7 Lbs. I had enough of them in the early 90's and dropped out. Like a dumb A** I thought things had changed & returned in 2004. I can see the light. I've subsidized their pro's enough. My ego isn't so big I can't say I race with another organization. I also take exception to the way they always justify their enhancements. It is So- very insulting to me. You know it gives me a dirty feeling... like some huckster that has his arm around you & is patting you on the back while he has his hand buried in your wallet. There is life without NHRA, I've experienced it before & it looks like I'm going to again. |

Re: Unmitigated Greed
There is a round about way of getting to NHRA, telling the MAJOR sponcers that you will not be using there products or services as long as they support NHRA. If you have MAJOR sponcers pull their support from NHRA or even to put pressure on NHRA to rescind their fees. It's a tough market right now and the sponcers will not want to hear about that sportsman racers will not buy from them if they are supporting NHRA. Go for the throat, NHRA is doing it to each and every racer.

Re: Unmitigated Greed
Jegs and Summit have to be a couple of the larger sponsors with clout at the sportsman level. The other individual sponsors are probably running thin trying to just make the posting REQUIRED to get a sign at the track.....

Re: Unmitigated Greed
Last time I quite racing I found I make more money than I thought I did. Actually got to walk around with a little in my pockets. Might need to try that again.

Re: Unmitigated Greed
I have been thinking about our voting "rights" for awhile and wondering just how the members never seemed to have a vote. Perhaps one of our legal experts could fill us in. Or what would it take to change the bylaws to bring control of the organization to the membership?
For me the enhancements began with the grading points. So that left me with the decision I made to no longer run the National events.I still feel that division racers should have the first chance at running national events in their home division and then to fill the field, it would be open to all. just my two cents, Lyn |
